Dubai's tourism sector is gearing up for an exciting boost with the introduction of a new five-year multiple-entry visa, aimed at enhancing travel between India and the UAE. This move comes as part of Dubai's efforts to foster sustained economic ties and promote tourism. According to recent reports from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), India has emerged as a significant source market for Dubai, with a remarkable increase in visitors despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.

In 2023 alone, Dubai welcomed a staggering 2.46 million overnight visitors from India, marking a notable 25 per cent surge from pre-pandemic levels. This surge firmly establishes India as the leading source market for tourism in Dubai. The introduction of the five-year multiple-entry visa is set to further facilitate travel between the two nations, allowing for greater flexibility and convenience for tourists and business travelers alike.

The new visa, which can be obtained within 2-5 working days, grants holders a stay of up to 90 days, extendable for a similar period, with a maximum stay of 180 days within a year. This initiative aims to encourage not only leisure travel but also business engagements, thereby strengthening economic collaborations between India and Dubai.

Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at DET, expressed optimism about the impact of this initiative, emphasizing India's crucial role in Dubai's tourism agenda. He highlighted Dubai's commitment to providing exceptional flight connectivity and ongoing efforts to promote awareness of its diverse offerings among Indian tourists.

With Dubai welcoming 17.15 million international overnight visitors in 2023, representing a significant growth of 19.4 per cent over the previous year, the city continues to solidify its position as a premier hub for business, investment, and tourism. This historic milestone initiative not only promises a more enriching experience for Indian tourists but also sets the stage for increased economic collaboration between the two nations.
