Batasia means airy atmosphere. If you will take a ride a Toy Train ride from Darjeeling, you will pass by this amazing, well designed loop. There is no better place to get a 360 degree view of this unforgettable scenery, including the snow covered white peaks of the Himalayas with Mount Kanchenjunga and the hill town Darjelling. Batasia Loop is located on Hill Cart Road (NH55).

Batasia Loop was commissioned in 1919. There is a sharp 140ft fall after Ghoom, the Highest Railway Station. So this loop was an well designed engineering requirement for the Toy Train.

In Batasia, there is a Eco Garden and it provides a lot of info about plantation and organic farming. You will find many types of rare plants.

There is a War Memorial at the center of the  Batasia Loop. It was established in 1995 to commemorate the Gorkha Soldiers who sacrificed their lives in various war.

There was a good market place, named Batasia Market, for buying bags, hats, cups, flasks and more.

 

(Batasia Loop হল একটি সর্পিল রেলপথ যা ভারতের দার্জিলিং হিমালয়ান রেলওয়ের আরোহণের গ্রেডিয়েন্ট কমানোর জন্য তৈরি করা হয়েছে। এটি ১৯১৯ সালে চালু হয়েছিল। এখান থেকে হিমালয় ও কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘা সহ দার্জিলিং শহরের একটি ৩৬০ ডিগ্রী ভিউ পাওয়া যায়। এখানে গোর্খা সৈন্যদের জন্য একটি War Memorial আছে , যারা নিজেদের জীবন বাজি রেখে বিভিন্ন যুদ্ধ জয় করেছে। 

Ghoom Railway Station এর পরে এখানে একটি ১৪০ ফিট ঢালু খাদ আছে , যাকে অতিক্রম করার জন্য এই Batasia Loop টি বানানো হয়েছিল।)

Kolkata to Batasia Loop

•  Train-

1.  (Sealdha to New Jalpaiguri)

                                 i. Train line: Padatik Exp (12377)

                                ii. Time: [ 23:20 – 9:15]

     2.  Then (New Jalpaiguri to Ghoom)

                                  i. Train line: New Jalpaiguri – Darjelling passenger (52541)

                                 ii. Time: [10:00-16:50]

                                iii. Then book a car or walk 1.6 km(19 mins) to reach Batasia Eco Garden

• Flight –

          [ Kolkata (CCU) to Bagdogra (IXB) ]

                                     i. Rate- Starting from 3,498/head.

                                     ii. Then book a Car from Bagdogra Airport to Batasia Loop.

When to go:

1. Mid-October to December 
2. Mid-February to April
